Thrombophlebitis
thrombophlebitis – an inflammatory or a chemical inflammation. It originates in venous stasis, meaning a blood clot created in the vein. This blood clot sticks to the wall of the vein and does not return to the blood system. The treatment for thrombophlebitis is draining the blood clots through a cut in the skin above the vein or conservatively, wrapping an elastic bandage and treating with anti inflammation drugs.
Venous blood clots are a common complication in untreated veins making it extremely dangerous when the thrombophlebitis appears in the deep venous system.
