Vein Stripping

Vein stripping is done under a regional  or a general anesthesia. The surgery is done inside the hospital. By making two incisions, one in the groin and the other in the lower part of the leg, near the ankle, the Greater Saphenous Vein is removed. Through other incisions, the surgeon removes the rest of the larger more superficial veins as well. Once the surgery is over, the treated area must be wrapped for 10-14 days.Success Rate: 80-85 percent

Recovery Time: 2 weeks

Risks: Nerve damage, leg pain, bleeding, hematoma, infections and scarring.
